A hike up Mt. Tallac~ The most REVERED Mt. in Lake Tahoe

Plan on the hike to take 6-8 Hours!

Spend a day and climb up one of our most revered mountains in Lake Tahoe called Mt. Tallac!  The hike has a spectacular view of Fallen Leaf Lake, Lake Tahoe and Desolation Wilderness, this strenuous hike up the front side is well worth the effort. The first part of the trail to Floating Island and Cathedral lakes is moderate and can be enjoyed by the novice hiker. Beyond Cathedral Lake, the trail becomes steep and strenuous as it continues up the front face of Mt. Tallac. The trailhead is located approximately 3-1/2 miles north of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 89. Look for the Mt. Tallac Trailhead sign directly across from the entrance to Baldwin Beach. Turn left drive to the trailhead parking. As for hiking up the back side you will turn off the Fallen Leaf Lake exit on hwy 89 right after Camp Richardson and proceed to the very south end of the lake. There is a trailhead and parking in the back of the general store.  You will love the vistas and views of Pyramid Peak next to Mt. Tallac. The back way is longer as it loops around a lot more of the mountain but it is an easier climb for those who are not in the best of shape.  There are lakes and streams on the way and some gorgeous old Tahoe trees to gaze upon!  Have fun and be safe!  Happy Trails!
This is your REWARD!

A Hike To Skunk Harbor

A hike to Skunk Harbor with Shaggy and Cabo

Skunk Harbor if you have never been there before is right after Spooner Summit and just north of Glenbrook. It is where the logging trail is as you can see the mined logs from the pictures.  It is a beautiful cove with an old abandoned cabin.  The property has great beaches for swimming and nice rocks for diving. The only problem i encountered was the yellow jackets as i got stung the minute i reached the beach.  It is a hike about a mile down and back is uphill so you better be in good shape to get down there. A great bike ride for those who wish to ride around the area.  There are many miles of terrain you can find.  Hope you enjoy the pictures. I highly recommend this hike and swim in the summer season.
